Wanting to keep chickens at home but don't know where to start?

Why not come to one of our hen-keeping courses for beginners run by Lesley Austin, held at Barking in Mid-Suffolk.

Find out all you need to know, meet Lesley's hens and enjoy a delicious buffet style lunch (please advise us of any special dietary requirements), all for only £50. You will have a great and eggsciting time and go home ready to keep these endearing little creatures and thoroughly enjoy it!

You might want to bring your cheque book or some extra cash as there may be some chicken-related goodies you'd be interested in taking home!

Our courses are held in small groups in Barking. You will visit Lesley's garden to handle the hens and ask as many questions as you need. Have a look at our Omlet 'Eglu' and Forsham Cottage 'Boughton' Ark to help you decide on housing for your hens.

You will receive a folder of information, a certificate and maybe some of Lesley's 'girls' eggs if they are in egg laying mode!

Lesley hit the news on TV and Radio when she asked the ladies from a local residential home to knit jumpers for rescued battery chickens!

Lesley asked the local residential home if they would knit some jumpers for the battery hens when they come out of the farms sometimes a bit bare, to keep them warm. They fell in love with one of Lesley's re-homed battery hens and have called her Uvie, after Uvedale Hall the name of the residential home who have now adopted the hen!

Please do not leave your hens on their own wearing the jumpers as they may get their legs caught in the wool causing them to have an accident!
